After watching the G4TV coverage on E3, news conferences, hands on, and demons, here are some thoughts, and I’ll perhaps expand on some of them over the weekend, but here is the list:

• Wii looked like a champion with amazing games like Super Mario Galaxy and Wii Fit. Wii Zapper and Wii Wheel will be the next “must own” game accessories. Nintendo’s approach of attracting both long time Nintendo lover and causal gamers is going to officially put them on top very soon.
• PS3 should also pick up 2nd wing due to its recent price cut, sitting on top of Amazon’s Bestseller chart, along with many amazing demos of their upcoming titles such as Heavenly Sword, Little Big Planet, and Unreal Tournament 3. Sony’s sales number should increase considerably in the 2nd half of the year.
• Speaking of Little Big Planet, it is going to be incredible. I haven’t had any good reasons to buy 2 more controllers for my PS3, but LBP will certainly justify it. The concept of the game is just so interesting, that although I don’t know too much more about it other than it is a co-op, horizontal platform puzzle game, I still can’t wait to get my hands on it.
• More on PS3, Unreal Tournament looked amazing. I downloaded the HD trailer on my PS3 and the game play just looked incredible. It was announced to be a “timed exclusive,” meaning if you want to play it on other console like Xbox, you will have to wait longer.
• G4TV needs to get their act together. They cut the highly anticipated Halo 3 video during the news conference for COMMERCIALS. That is just unbelievable. Yes, the same video will be available on YouTube or every other person’s blog. Yes, the conference will be shown again later. But NO. As live coverage, have some decency and show people what they want. If you are just going to butcher it and piss off your audience, then you might as well not show it live. Just put the segments you want in some other show and play it later the day. Check this site for the clip, although I have not turned up the volume and check it out myself, but apparently you can hear Adam Sessler, one of the host, protested against the producers for cutting it short, saying “they are still showing it, why?”
• Not impressed by “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.” It looked more like Far Cry 2 and the modeling looked like they can use some more polishing. The game play looked reasonable, but something the lighting just made the characters and pretty much everything looked glassy and strange. Calling it Far Cry 2 is not exactly an insult since I enjoyed playing the game on my PC, but for all the hype it is gathering, I was slightly disappointed. If I have extra money to spare, and finds a good deal on eBay, I may buy it.
• Back to Wii. Nintendo’s Super Mario Galaxy looked absolutely crazy. The video looked so bizarrely cool that I want a hit of whatever Shigeru Miyamoto is smoking. There is a reason why the Mario series is so successful, they always stay in front of the trend and amaze the fans with brilliant, yet strange, ideas.
• People complain about the fact that E3 is not open to the general public this year, but I think that is for the better. It helps developers and companies to focus on their products, giving people there the attention they needed. When it is super crowded because everyone wants to see (fill in the blank), it only creates chaos and creditable journalists get robbed from really doing their reports for the the rest of the world. I certainly don’t want to see people tailgating in the parking lot, waiting to get in. Go to G4TV, do a Google search, find it on YouTube, but leave the reporting to somebody else. (Note: “somebody else” does not include me. Obviously I would love to be part of the event, but I don’t consider myself better than the everyday fan. I am just a fan with something to say. But as the site improves, maybe one day I’ll qualify, that’s assuming E3 continues next year and on)

yay for blogging at work. But seriously though, I can’t wait for those games to come out, I have a feeling that it is going to be a good xmas.
